Don Quixote: On page 940 of 940 pages total. Finally finished!
In addition to finishing the actual text of this novel, I also went back and read the preface by the translator by Edith Grossman, and the introduction by Harold Bloom. I always skip introductions to classic works because I don't want to be influenced by the opinions of others about what the work is about, but on a more basic level, I don't want to read spoilers before I start reading a classic novel.
I'll probably reread this novel sometime in the future. It was a really great read. Also, you really have to read it more than just once in order to really understand it fully. The first read though, a lot of times you're concentrating so hard on understanding what is happening, that you can't use all of your mental energy towards concentrating on the meaning of what you're reading like you can do more easily in future readings.
