Me versus my evil mini-fridge.
On the To Do List I keep in my computer, I list a number of tasks that repeat on a weekly and monthly basis. There are different tasks that I realize that I need or should do every so often.

One task I've decided to try to do on a monthly basis is to defrost my mini-fridge and wipe it completely out. The last time I had to defrost it, the ice had gotten so thick that it took many hours for the ice to melt enough so that it would fall off of the freezer part. This turned out to be such a pain that I decided then and there never to let my mini-fridge go so long between defrostings. However, I wasn't exactly confident that I would keep my pledge. If I remember correctly, I though what would probably happen was what always seemed to happen. I would forget to defrost it until the damn ice was so thick that it would again take hours for the ice to melt.

However, tonight I glanced at my To Do List and thought: "Aha! I can do that tonight!" It was amazing how thick it had gotten in the months since I had did it last, but it was still thin enough that it only took an hour or so to melt sufficiently that I could pull out the various slabs of ice and through them into the sink to melt. The water softener is operating until 2 AM, so I'll wait until I can use the hot water again to wipe it out and turn the mini-fridge back on.

In any case, doing a task every so often instead of letting it build up into a monster-sized task is always a good strategy since this way is a lot easier.
